Our Food Security & Nutrition courses are primarily aimed at mothers between the ages of 20 – 35.
Training courses are designed to teach key principles of a healthy diet, including:
- Eating 3 x day
- Children having food before going to school
- Cooking food properly
- Boiling water to drink
- Understanding a balanced diet
- Weaning babies
Mums are often accompanied by their babies and toddlers who make their presence felt! Yet it is always a special opportunity to meet others as well as learning together.
Key objectives
Following the course the following are put into practice:
- Preparing and eating well balanced meals
- Improved cooking procedures
- Weaning and preparing suitable food for babies
- Personal cleanliness and good hygiene in the home
- Sustainable land management to provide balanced meals for the family – growing a variety of vegetables, caring for crops, improving soil fertility, terracing,…-keeping animals for manure
- Employing Family planning methods – pills and IUDs (intra uterine devices)
- Care during pregnancy
- Monitoring child development
