Last October, we were pleased to announce we’d delivered 48 water tanks and set a target for 50 by Christmas.
Thanks to our Christmas Gifts campaign and kind donations, that target has been absolutely smashed.
We were thrilled to receive funds from donors over Christmas to enable us to build another 16 water tanks for local communities, taking our total to over 60 – 64 to be precise.
“We have sent funds for the first 8 with more to follow.
“This is so gratefully received and saves the steep daily climb to the lake and enables more activities adjacent to the home.
“This is followed up by a day of training about sanitation and hygiene.
“When completed this will total 64 tanks and more requested.”
Of course, donations are not just for Christmas, financial gifts are welcome year round and go straight to helping the local communities.

The mission of Itambira Island Seeds of Hope is to provide the communities around Lake Bunyonyi with opportunities for learning with the aim of transforming their lives physically, economically and spiritually.
Itambira Island Welcomes Guests
Itambira Island offers a unique opportunity to stay on Lake Bunyonyi. Day visitors are welcome to visit our facilities and restaurant, while guests can also book overnight accommodation in treehouses, roundhouses or the house on the hill. We’ve expanded and now have treehouses on the lake as well as among the trees; plus simple, cheap and clean budget/backpacker options for those on a budget.
