Celebrating 100 Milestones of Clean Water at Lake Bunyonyi

One of our newest water tanks, saving families hours of travel every day.

In the breathtaking hills surrounding Lake Bunyonyi, the view is world-class, but the daily reality for many families has historically been a steep, exhausting climb. With no natural springs on the hillside, the simple act of getting water wasn’t simple at all—it was a marathon.

The 3-Hour Hurdle

Before our rainwater harvesting program, residents spent upwards of three hours every single day trekking down to the lake and back up the steep terrain. This “time tax” fell heaviest on women and children, stealing hours that could have been spent on schoolwork and local activities around the house.

The Impact: By collecting water directly off the roof, we aren’t just providing a resource—we are giving back time, education, and health to the community.
